Avalon Legend is a metaphorical game that explores the theme of "Loneliness" through the gameplay mechanics, aesthetics, and narrative of the game.
Players take control of Arthur the Exiled in a unique "Single-Player Co-op Experience" where players control 2 characters simultaneously in a fast-paced, top-down "shooter", battle 9 different demons, and unlock secrets to discover the meaning behind Avalon Legend.
Players will be probed to ponder upon the deeper meaning behind the elements in the game and its representations, as every game element is carefully crafted with reference to the central metaphorical overtone.
Aimed to marry white-knuckled, fast-paced gameplay, with a deeper artistic, metaphorical meaning, Avalon Legend aims to appeal to players both viscerally and intellectually.
Avalon Legend expresses a deep metaphorical overtone based on the concept of "Loneliness". Players are spurred to probe and ponder upon the meaning of the metaphorical representations of the different game elements in relation to "Loneliness" through the gameplay and the clues provided in the journals the player obtains for performing particular tasks in the game.
All the elements in the game, from the gameplay, to the character design, the character abilities, the setting etc; each hold an individual meaning and reference that ties back to the game’s deeper metaphorical expression of "Loneliness". Based loosely on references to the King Arthur legend, the different characters and settings of Arthurian legend are re-imagined in a fantastical, post-apocalyptic setting to convey the meaning of the metaphor to the player from a different angle.
